I agree about the Loveless (Candy too, for that matter). Didn't know that EA released a second cd. What was it titled? Any official release? What's the story on it, morning glory?

not an official release. some call it New York Times. it was recorded and shelved. Some tunes ended up (in different forms) on the loveless cd.

According to Jonathan Daniel, the "NY Times" collection was 100% put together by a fan, and is not in any way what would have been a second EA cd. He told me that had there been a second Electric Angels cd, it would have been called "A Blue Sick World", but that there was never a single song recorded for it. He said that over the course of the band's time, they demoed about twenty-five songs, most of which have been in circulation among traders for several years.
If you know Jonathan, you know that's he's very particular about sound quality and song quality. Because of this, he feels it's important that people NOT view these demos as a second EA cd, but simply a collection of songs, most of which he feels are pretty bad songs. I personally think some of these demos are great, like "Def Generation" for example, but his attitude was that if they were any good, they would've been used later. The only ones he likes are the ones that were re-recorded for The Loveless, and he likes The Loveless versions of them much better. If you know him, you know he's his own worst critic. He refuses to acknowledge that he writes great songs. He thinks that his songs are mainly shitty, which is beyond me...
On another note, I asked him a couple months ago if he had considered mastering and officially releasing some of those old demos. His response was "They have a drum machine...No real drums on a single one of those songs, and besides, no one cares about that old crap anyway." He went on to say that it would be disrespectful to John Schubert to release material with a drum machine, so expect it never to be officially released...It's a shame!
Long live JD,
Sandi
